"Naumova's win was a surprise to industry pundits. The English-language CITY PAPER magazine was the only media outlet that had tipped I Wanna as this year's winner."

1. Cyprus

Performer: One
The Song: Gimme

A bouncy if predictable boy-band sound. The four muscular teen idols are given an outside chance to win. Lyric excerpt: "Gimme gimme gimme your lovin'"

2. Britain

Performer: Jessica Garlick
The Song: Come Back

A professional tune by a 20-year-old who shot to fame after making the finals of the British TV show Pop Idol. Come Back was written by airline pilot, Martin Baylay. Britain is considered a top contender to win it all.

3. Austria
Performer: Manuel Ortega
The Song: Say a Word

Bluesy, soulful, sweet. Ortega, 22, is considered a long shot to win.

4. Greece
Performer: Michalis Rakintzis
The Song: Sagapo (I Love You)

A catchy if repetitive song, revolving around the lyrics—"If you want to get my love.... Say, say the magic word: Sagapo, S.A.G.A.P.O."

5. Spain
Performer: Rosa
The Song: Europe's Living a Celebration

A sentimental song about the EU. Said to have a reasonable shot at winning.

6. Croatia
Performer: Vesna Pisarovic
The Song: Sasvim Sigurna (Completely Sure)

Mainstream pop. A contender for a low placing.

7. Russia
Performer: Premier Ministr
The Song: Northern Girl

A Russian boy band Lyric excerpt: "Northern girl Lady Ice. How can I melt you baby?" They've a chance of winning, though not a good chance.

8. Estonia
Performer: Sahléne
The Song: Runaway

Mainstream but catchy by 25-year-old Anna Sahlin. With some luck, it's probably a good enough song to win. (See an earlier report about the Estonian entry, here.)
