Latvian MFA: non-citizen referendum may violate Latvia’s international commitments

The so-called "non-citizen referendum" may go against the internationally-recognized doctrine of the continuity of Latvia's "de iure" independence as well as against the constitutional foundations of Latvia, the country's legal system and international commitments, therefore the current referendum bill may not be considered acceptable under the Constitution's Article 78, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry's conclusions regarding a bill proposing amending the Citizenship Law, which the ministry presented to the Central Election Commission today....
