How to Call

Calling local numbers while in Latvia: Just dial the seven-digit number as it is, because area codes are incorporated into regular telephone numbers: XXX-XXXX; to call mobile phones, dial 9XX-XXXX or 6XX-XXXX.
Calling to Latvia from abroad: Just dial the 371 Latvian code plus the number as it is—or, in other words, 371-XXX-XXXX. Calling a mobile phone, also dial 371-XXX-XXXX.
Calling abroad from Latvia: To call the rest of the world simply dial 00, followed by the country code and number. The country code for Estonia is 372. The code for Lithuania is 370.
Operators: to book over­seas calls, dial 115. Operators speak rudimentary English.
If you need to make phone calls from a pay phone, you should purchase a Lattelekom phone card—available at newspaper kiosks, post offices and some stores. For international calls, buy an international phone card. You can also purchase pre­paid card for your mobile.

WiFi
Wireless Internet or WIFI has become readily available in Riga. There are more than 100 spots where you can just turn on your computer and log on. Some WIFI points ask for a fee. To see where these areas are, try www.wifi.lv.
