VAT rate could be raised even higher in Latvia

In order to attain a budget deficit of 3% of gross domestic product in 2011, the government of Latvia may further increase the value-added tax rate, as well as make more people redundant and further cut wages in the government sector, according to the Latvian government's letter sent to the International Monetary Fund Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn....
