Saunas in Estonia are an institution-to some, a religion. If you've never taken a sauna, the idea of sitting in a room hotter than some ovens may seem indistinguishable from hell itself. This is deceiving. Most people who've ever ventured into one will attest that a sauna is a heavenly pleasure. You're as likely to come across a truly bad sauna in Estonia as you are to come across a truly bad pub in Ireland. It's possible, but odds are against it. Most hotels and health clubs have saunas. recently beat World Cup qualifier Russia 2-1 in a friendly; Andres Oper,
who plays in the top Danish league, is Estonia’s leading striker.
Goalie Mart Poom plays for Derby County. A domestic powerhouse is
Flora Tallinn FC. Estonia’s Football Association is at Võidu

Cross-country skiing: Andrus Veerpalu won a
gold and silver at the Salt Lake City Games; Jaak Mae won bronze.
Kristina and Katrin Smigun are leading women skiers.
Athletics: Decathlete Erki Nool won the gold
medal at the Sydney Olympics.
Cycling: Top ranked Jaan Kirsipuu made history
by leading the 1999 Tour de France in early stages.
Horse racing: There’s no confusing Estonia
